This pretty George Jones plate has seen better days! In the past it has been hung on the wall with a wire hanger hooked round the rim, which has ground away part of the edge. In addition, the gilding round the edge of the plate has rubbed. However, for the lover of vintage plates who appreciates that perfect examples are not found every day, this example will make a nice addition to a group of floral decorative plates.

A pretty little hand-painted Victorian plate/trinket dish measuring just 5¼" x 5¼".

There is no damage, but some gilding has rubbed off over the passage of time, particularly from the beading. However, the colours are still bright, making this an ideal piece to add to a vintage collection.

Another Royal Torquay Pottery vase with a rich golden yellow base with a border of apples and leaves.

This vase has also in the past been attributed to the hand of Joseph Nekola - the leaves particularly are reminiscent in style of Wemyss design.

Again there are a few underglaze blemises and some slight crazing, but overall this is another attractive and useful item.

The two vases (CG-02 and CG-03)are in fact identical in colour, but one was photographed inside with flash and the other outside on a sunny day.

This vase also measures 9½" high.

Price: £15.00 + p&p

Two-handled vase from the Torquay Potteries, the pattern may well have been painted by Joseph Nekola, formerly of the Wemyss factory who moved to the Bovey Pottery Company in Devon in the 1930s when the Wemyss factory in Fife closed during the economic depression. The Wemyss rights and moulds were purchased by the Bovey Pottery Company and Nekola painted for them until his death in 1952.

There are a few underglaze blemishes and some slight crazing. Otherwise the vase is in excellent condition.

An attractive but also usable item measuring 9½" in height.

A 23-piece Children's Teaset dating to c.1860. The beautiful turquoise-blue flower pattern displays dog roses on one side of every item and a daisy flower on the other. The gilt accenting is perfect, with no scratching or wear. (Click on the photos to enlarge)

The overall condition is near perfect on all pieces apart from two cups. These have problems. One is beyond repair -  it has already been badly repaired, is discoloured giving the appearance of having been placed in a hot oven,  and is of no value. The other cup has a hairline crack but still displays well. Please see revised information below!

The set comprises 6 cups (2 A/F as stated above), 6 saucers, 6 plates, 2 cake plates, teapot, milk jug and lidded sugarl. The teapot and milk jug have a twisted double handle similar in style to the Minton and Longton teasets manufactured at the time. No backstamps, but this set is unlikely to be Minton, despite its obvious quality. Number 3327 painted in gilt on base of some pieces.

Sizes are approx: teapot 6" spout to handle x 4" high; plate 5¼" dia; saucer 4¼" dia; cups 2" high.

REVISED INFORMATION: I have decided to keep for myself the 2 damaged cups, together with 2 saucers and 2 plates. I have so enjoyed having this teaset in my home that it will be no hardship at all to keep these pieces! This means the set now consists of 4 cups, saucers and plates, 2 cake plates, teapot, milk jug and lidded sugar.  The teaset as now offered has ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE. You will definitely not be disappointed with your purchase!

The price is reduced accordingly from £99.00 to £75.00 + p&p
